We heard you! Little School of Music is adapting music program offerings to better serve the needs of our music students. Instructors, students, and parents provided valuable feedback and as a result, we are excited to offer you new programs to help you succeed.
- Instructional Time – Students and teachers are feeling the pressure of time constraints in weekly lessons to be able to cover all the areas of study required to develop a student’s well-rounded musicianship.
- Social Experience & Collaboration – Students are consistently asking when they will see other students in the school more often to learn and play music together.
- Access to All Instructors – We have an outstanding, all-star team of Instructors. We want to make all of them accessible to you so you can learn more from music professionals, cross over the classroom borders, and stay inspired.
- Community Building – A sense of community is extremely important. Bringing people together through music is a positive experience that can develop strong bonds and life-long relationships. We want to open that door wider to create more meaningful connections through our common interest, music.
This fall, Little School of Music will be offering new programs that pair individual lessons, group class instruction, and ensemble playing together.
How does it work?
Students will work closely with a private instructor each week on specific playing techniques and repertoire, as they do now. In addition to their one-on-one weekly lesson, students may attend any group class offered by any LSM Instructor.
Group classes will complement the individual lessons by covering more of the elements that can be taught and experienced in a group setting. This will also promote student collaborations, group work, ensemble playing, learning from piers, leadership and teaching experience for more advanced students, and it’s going to be REALLY FUN!
Group classes will be taught by different Instructors under the guidance and planning expertise of the Studio Director and Lead Instructors, giving you access to more professional instruction throughout the week and month. You can sign up for any class, any week, as long as there is space. This means scheduling is much more flexible for you to be able to attend regularly.
If you are absent from a private lesson, you may opt for a recorded or written lesson from your private instructor, or you may attend a group class instead as an alternative to the missed private lesson. The group class will need to be attended within 4 weeks of the missed lesson or it will be forfeited.
How to Enroll
We feel very strongly that the combination of individual and group learning is in the student’s best interest to maximize their continued progress, success, and joy for learning music.
