Growth, Celebration, and Music in Motion
March was an exciting and memorable month at Little School of Music, filled with outstanding performances, meaningful milestones, and moments that reminded us how powerful music can be when students, families, teachers, and the community come together.
From national recognition and recital celebrations to new staff members and accreditation work, March was a month of growth in every direction, and we are incredibly proud of all that was accomplished.

Congratulations to Our LSM Bands – WorldStrides Heritage Festival
A huge congratulations to Jukebox Kids, Pizza Rat, Crazy Crew, and Saturn for their successful performances at the WorldStrides Heritage Festival in Anaheim!
Students spent an unforgettable day together enjoying Disneyland, performing on a professional stage, and attending a special awards ceremony celebrating musical excellence.
One of the highlights of the event was an original song by Sophie Arango, beautifully performed by Crazy Crew, showcasing not only musicianship, but creativity and artistic leadership.
Special congratulations to:
🏆 Rowan Montemayor – Maestro Award
🏆 Sophie Arango – Maestro Award
These honors recognize superior individual musical performances, and we are incredibly proud of both students.

Thank You for Supporting Our WASC Site Visit
A heartfelt thank you to our teachers, staff, community partners, parents, and students who participated in our recent Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation site visit.
Every six years, Little School of Music completes a major self-study process examining our mission, programs, instructional practices, partnerships, and long-term goals as part of our continued accreditation.
Your voices, feedback, and participation help us continue growing and improving as an educational community.
Thank you for helping us move forward.
Spring Recitals – A Celebration of Growth
Congratulations to all of our Spring Recital performers!
This season included 6 recital performances featuring more than 120 young musicians, each stepping on stage with courage, preparation, and heart.
From beginning students sharing their very first performances to more advanced musicians presenting polished repertoire, every recital reminds us that growth happens one step at a time, and every stage matters.
Thank you to our families for supporting your children and celebrating these meaningful milestones with us.
Student Spotlight: Congratulations, Desmond Fu!
We also want to recognize Desmond Fu, who recently performed at the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate of Excellence Honors Recital at The Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles, celebrating his National Gold Medal achievements in Trumpet Levels 4 and 5.
Desmond continues to be a wonderful example of discipline, humility, consistency, and excellence — and we are so proud of all he has accomplished.

Like Peanut Butter and Jelly: Why Group Learning and Individual Lessons Make a Great Combination
Music learning is strongest when students experience both individual growth and community music-making.
Private lessons build technique, confidence, and personalized progress. Group experiences build listening skills, teamwork, leadership, and musical belonging.
Together, they make a powerful combination.

One of my favorite things about teaching music is watching students realize they belong here.
Sometimes that happens through a song.
Sometimes through a friendship.
Sometimes through a recital performance.
Sometimes through a small moment of courage when they try something new.
Music gives children a place to grow, not just as musicians, but as people.
As we welcome new families and begin building our online community, my hope is that every child feels encouraged, supported, and excited to be part of something meaningful.
Thank you for being part of our musical family.
With love and gratitude,
