Consistency, Humility, and Musical Excellence
Trumpet · LSM Student Since 2024

Desmond Fu proudly performed at The Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles as part of the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate of Excellence Honors Recital, celebrating his National Gold Medal achievements in Trumpet Levels 4 and 5. His performance was a wonderful reflection of the discipline, consistency, and heart he brings to his musical studies.
At Little School of Music, we often talk about the power of consistency and how showing up, staying focused, and continuing to work through challenges can lead to extraordinary results over time. Desmond Fu is a beautiful example of that philosophy in action.
Desmond began live virtual trumpet lessons with Miss Mindy in March 2024, and from the very beginning, he approached music with remarkable dedication, discipline, and humility. Week after week, he showed up prepared, focused, and ready to learn, not with the goal of chasing awards, but with the mindset of steadily improving, one step at a time.
That quiet consistency quickly turned into an extraordinary accomplishment.
Desmond earned the Royal Conservatory of Music National Gold Medal for both Trumpet Level 4 and Trumpet Level 5, an incredible achievement recognizing the highest marks in the nation for those levels. He was invited to perform at the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate of Excellence Honors Recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City, an invitation reserved for students demonstrating exceptional musical achievement.
Unfortunately, heavy snow and dangerous weather conditions forced the Carnegie Hall performance to be canceled. While disappointing, Desmond handled the unexpected change with maturity and grace, a reflection of his character both as a musician and as a young man.
Soon after, a new opportunity opened.
Desmond was invited to perform at the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate of Excellence Honors Recital at The Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles, where he proudly represented Little School of Music and shared his music on another prestigious stage closer to home. His performance was a wonderful celebration of all the hard work, preparation, and perseverance that brought him there.
What makes Desmond especially inspiring is that music is just one part of who he is.
He is also:
A standout high school tennis player
A high honors academic student
A humble and gracious young leader
An exceptional young musician who continues to grow
Desmond demonstrates the qualities that lead to long-term success in any field: discipline, confidence, consistency, focus, and humility.
He is now preparing for his next challenge, the Royal Conservatory Level 6 Trumpet Examination this April, continuing his journey with the same steady dedication that brought him this far.
Desmond reminds us that talent may open doors, but consistency is what carries you through them.
We are incredibly proud of you, Desmond, and we look forward to all the music still ahead.
Congratulations on your remarkable achievements, and best of luck on Level 6! 🎶🎺💛
