When parents think of “music lessons”, often images of an old lady with glasses around her neck sitting at a piano yelling at you to play your scales comes to mind. If that is what’s on your mind, come check out Little School of Music. We offer a range of fun group classes and private lessons for all ages.
Group classes allow students and parents to learn basic fundamentals in a lively classroom setting with others making learning more fun! Involvement in the classes gives parents an opportunity to learn music along with their children and tips on how help with assist with practicing at home. If you play at home, so will your kids! Many parents who actively make music at home (sing play piano or guitar, etc.) have kids who also want to practice. Children copy everything parents do. They want to be like you, do the things you do, and please you. Music can be a joyous, bonding experience together creating a lifetime of memories.
Certain skills and learning experiences can only be accomplished in a group setting such as: ensemble playing, music games, cooperative teamwork, learning from other students, mini recitals, and concerts in a familiar and comfortable setting to name a few. This type of learning environment is one kids are familiar with and enjoy. Most class sizes are between 6-8 students, so there is time for individual assistance as well. Come see what it’s like! Call the office to find out when you can visit one of our group classes for FREE!
Private Lessons allow students to further develop individual technique, musicality, style, and to pursue personal musical goals. It is usually a good time to take private lessons if a student is mature enough to focus for at least 30 minutes, follow directions, and have the commitment to attend weekly lessons and practice. It is in the students’ best interest to have a consistent weekly lesson. When students know when to expect their lesson, they are able to plan weekly practice times at home to come better prepared to their next lesson. This helps with steady progress, a calmer learning environment, a better understanding of what is being taught, and ultimately helps students achieve their goals at a more rapid pace.
