From Virtual Notes to Center Stage—A Journey of Quiet Resilience and Joy
Piano · LSM Student Since 2019
When Sarah Krummel began piano lessons at Little School of Music in 2014, she was shy, sweet, and full of quiet potential. Under the gentle guidance of teacher Brianna Marra, Sarah’s love for music began to bloom—rooted in careful attention, expressive playing, and a growing sense of confidence.
Over the years, Sarah progressed rapidly, earning high marks through the Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate of Excellence Program, demonstrating not only technical ability but a well-rounded musical understanding and sensitivity.
She built a rich “repertoire bank,” filled with pieces she’ll carry with her for a lifetime.
“I was so encouraged to see how determined she was to play her best for her RCM level,” says Brianna. “She’s come so far—not just in ability, but in motivation and love for music.”
When the pandemic hit, Sarah’s family relocated to Tennessee—but their commitment to music, and to Little School of Music, never wavered. Despite the distance, Sarah continued weekly virtual lessons with Brianna, participating in remote recitals, submitting video performances, and staying active in the LSM community.
“We learned so much about connection during that time,” says Miss Mindy. “Sarah was one of the students who reminded us that no matter where you are, music brings us together.”
Now, after nearly 11 years with LSM, Sarah is preparing to graduate and attend Welch College in Gallatin, Tennessee, where she received a generous academic scholarship. She plans to major in Business, while also participating in theatre, choir, and music programs—a perfect blend of her intellect, creativity, and artistry.
At the senior recital, Sarah will perform Sonata in D Major by Clementi—bringing her musical journey full circle as she returns to California to share her music one more time, in person, with the teachers and friends who watched her grow.
“I’ve loved being a part of Sarah’s life for so long,” says Brianna. “She’s blossomed into such a beautiful young woman, and I’m so excited for all the ways music will stay with her.”
Sarah’s family will be flying out from Tennessee to attend the recital—a powerful reminder of the love, support, and faith that has surrounded her every step of the way.
Sarah, we are so proud of the person and musician you’ve become. You’ve quietly reminded us that persistence, grace, and joy are the real keys to success.
You will always be part of the Little School of Music family. 🎹♥️
