Finding Her Voice in the Low End
Bass & Flashback · LSM Student Since 2014
When Lily Christiansen first started piano lessons, she wasn’t sure music was really for her. It was something she did—quietly, consistently—but she hadn’t found her sound yet. That changed the moment she picked up a bass.
“Once I started playing bass and joined a band, everything clicked. I finally felt like I belonged in music.”
Lily’s journey at Little School of Music began alongside her twin brother, Harry. While their paths often crossed, Lily’s was uniquely her own. Over time, she grew from a reserved piano student into a confident bassist, ensemble player, and artistic leader in her community.
As the bassist for Flashback, LSM’s rock band, Lily performed at the WorldStrides Heritage Festivals in Anaheim and Hollywood—bringing home Gold ratings. Her quiet strength and steady presence anchored the group, both musically and personally.
But Lily’s musical world didn’t stop at LSM. At Valencia High School, she plays upright and electric bass in the Jazz Band and often performs in the pit orchestra for school musicals. She’s contributed to various music projects throughout Santa Clarita and is the founder and bassist of the band Silken, which has performed across the LA area.
Her mom, Susy, reflects:
“She found her place in music through the bass. It gave her the space to be herself—and the confidence to own that space.”
Lily’s creativity extends far beyond the stage. She is the founder of Ghost Party Rags, an upcycled fashion brand where she blends visual art and sustainability. Her designs have been featured in events like the Lights Out Fashion Show, and her love for culture and communication shines in her writing for JUNK! Magazine and the Enlighten Project, a platform she created to celebrate fashion and cultural diversity.
“I love being part of creative communities. Whether it’s through music, fashion, or writing—it’s all expression. And it’s all connected.”
After graduation, Lily plans to take a gap year to grow her business, gain college credits at College of the Canyons, and save money before transferring to UC Santa Barbara to study Communications and Business.
Her artistic future is already unfolding—and she’s leading it with grace, purpose, and quiet power.
Lily, we are so proud of the confident, creative, and compassionate young woman you’ve become. Congratulations on your accomplishments—and everything still ahead.
You will always be part of the Little School of Music family. 🎸♥️
