School Recitals are open to all students to participate in. LSM hosts all school recitals at no cost to LSM families or teachers. Teachers attend recitals to support their students and several drive long distances to be in attendance.
Little School of Music School Recitals are open to all students to participate. LSM hosts all school recitals at no cost to LSM families or teachers. Teachers attend recitals to support their students and may also perform at school recitals.
Recitals are generally about 60-75 minutes long. This can vary depending on the number of participants and the repertoire being performed.
Students must prepare appropriate music selections and audition 2 weeks before the recital for their teacher to make sure they are ready to perform on stage in front of an audience. Teachers will determine if students are ready to perform or will have to wait for the next recital or performance opportunity.
Parents are responsible for signing up for a recital time at the front desk, or through the LSM app under the participating student account, by the recital sign up deadline date (the Saturday before the recital weekend). Recital space is limited. Please do not sign up for a recital if you might not be attending as this takes a spot away from another student.
Teachers are responsible for submitting student performance repertoire no later than 5 days prior to the recital date. Last minute changes or additions will not be accepted. LSM needs enough time for recital preparations, program printing, and planning.
Each student who does not give prior notice of a School Recital absence, to the LSM OFFICE by phone, will be charged a $25 NO-SHOW FEE. Students may not participate in another recital until this Fee has been paid.
If there is an emergency, or you become ill the day of the recital and are unable to attend, please contact the office as soon as possible: 661-222-2239
Students who sign up for a recital must be prepared to perform. It is the students’ responsibility to bring any necessary music, CDs, your instrument, and wear appropriate performance attire. Please do not wear jeans, tennis shoes, sports jerseys, or other casual clothes. Nice slacks, button up shirt, polo shirt, jacket and tie, dress, or a skirt below the knee are appropriate to wear.
Plan to arrive 15-minutes early to park and take your seat. It is not necessary to arrive any earlier unless there is a rehearsal scheduled with an ensemble or accompanist. Your teacher will advise you on what time to arrive if this is the case.
Late arrivals will have to wait until there is a break in the performance to enter the room. It is best to use the restroom before the recital begins to avoid distractions and interruptions during the recital.
Performers, families, guests, and teachers are required to stay for the entire performance. If you cannot arrive on time and stay for the full recital, then please do not sign up for that recital time. We understand there are many activities going on, but it is not proper concert etiquette, nor is it fair to the other performers and guests.
We want to have a pleasant recital experience for everyone.
Thank you for your cooperation.
